Mexico 2003

Sometime in 2003, fall I think, I made a trip to Mexico to attend the Mexico national BMW riders rally being held in Cuernavaca after which I went to another rally put on by Horizons Unlimited in Creel Chihuahua . I made the majority of the trip one up  and met up with Ruth in Acapulco where she had flown to.  After the BMW rally she flew back to the US. The whole trip, start to finish was something like 6,000 miles done in approximately one month. Other than needing a new tire in Cuernavaca I had no other mechancical issues.

Cuernavaca is located south of Mexico City and at one time was was the home of everybody's favorite conquistador, Herman Cortes. The rally itself was a 1st class affair as BMW riders in Mexico are generally very well off when compared to their counterparts in the USA. The main events were held at Las Estacas about an hour outside of Cuernavaca.

The Horizons Unlimited rally was held in the town of Creel which is located in the Copper Canyon area (Barrancas del Cobre) which is approximately 25,000 square miles and contains six distinct canyons. Following are some photos of the trip in no particular order.
