Mexico 2004

In 2004 I returned to the Copper Canyon area of Mexico for the 4th and final time. As in 2003, this was for a Horizons Unlimited rally. This time I took my 2004 Triumph Tiger. Along the way I stopped in Austin, TX to get some knobbies fitted. I also met up with a couple of other folks headed the same way.

After the rally, a camping affair, I rode down into Batopilas Canyon. This is an 85 mile trek on winding gravel roads that descend from Creel (7,700 feet above seal level) to the town of Batopilas (1,896 feet above sea level). I’d done this ride before, years ago, on a KLR650. As then, I spend the night and returned to Creel and then began my trek home. The whole trip worked out to about 4,000 miles round trip.

Following are some photos if the trip in no particular order.
